PHYS0206-3  General physics (y compris l'introduction à l'étude universitaire de la physique)
Duration :  80h Th, 30h Pr, 30h QA Sess.
Credits/ECTS :
Bachelor in chemical sciences, 1st yearToute l'année12
Bachelor in geological sciences, 1st yearToute l'année11
Holder(s) :  Fernande Grandjean
Language :  Langue française
Course contents :  The general physics course includes classical mechanics, ray optics, electricity, and wave physics.
Course objective :  The general physics course is a basic course for future chemists and geologists. It is the basis of other science courses. The goals are to revise and deepen the classical physics, to be able to develop in subsequent years the 20th century physics. Both aspects, theoretical and experimental, of physics are developed through lectures, problem solving and laboratories.
Prerequisites :  There are no important prerequisite because many of the physical concepts covered in the high-school program are revised but they are deepened throughout the year. However, good mathematical skills are very helpful to follow demonstrations and exercises.
Workshops :  Laboratories in electricity, ray optics and wave optics are organized. Problem solving sessions illustrate the course.
Organization :  Lectures in common with Bac 1 in Physics. Laboratories in groups of 20. Specific problem solving sessions for Bac 1 Chemistry and Geology.
Written notes :  Lectures notes are sold by Point de Vue. The laboratory and exercices notes are sold by the Department of Physics.
Assessment :  3 quizzes, problems, if grade > 10/20, dispensation of the examination.
1 examination in mechanics and ray optics at the end of 1st quadrimester.
1 laboratory examination
1 problem examination
1 theory examination
