MATH0051-1  Multicriteria Analysis Applied to Environment Management
Duration :  15h Th, 15h Pr
Credits/ECTS :
management engineering, 3rd yearPremier quadrimestre
Holder(s) :  Daniel Dubois
Language :  Langue française
Course contents :  The multicriteria analysis aims at providing tools which make it possible to progress in the resolution of a problem of choice, decision or action where several criteria, often contradictory, must be taken into account. There does not exist, in general, a solution which is the best simultaneously for all the criteria.

Software packages of multicriteria analysis, Electtre by example, provide solutions of better compromise.

Real case studies will be particularly analyzed within the framework of the management of the environment.
Course objective :  The objective of the course is triple:
1. To show the importance of the multicriteria analysis in the formulation of decision-making;
2. To describe methods of multicriteria analysis, as an extension of the mono-criterion methods (like the linear programming);
3. To apply methods to management of the environment (for example, to optimize the treatment of waste water).
Prerequisites :  Information technology and operations research.
Workshops :  A personal work will be requested from the student.
Organization :  See the timetable of the course.
Written notes :  Syllabi will be available on the virtual campus: http://campus.hec.ulg.ac.be (http://campus.hec.ulg.ac.be/)
Assessment :  The evaluation is based on the personal work completed by the student and on the final written report.
