| Course contents : | Supply chain management is to efficiently coordinate suppliers, manufacturers, warehouses and stores of a logistics network, so that merchandise is produced and distributed at the right quantities, to the right locations, and at the right time, in order to minimize system wide costs while satisfying service level requirements. The course treats the fundamental topics of supply chain management: designing supply chains and production centres, aggregate planning, inventory and material flow management (inventory management, material requirements planning, just-in-time techniques and Kanban systems), transportation management, globalization and supply chains, sourcing strategies, information and decision support systems for supply chain management. |
 |
| Course objective : | The principal objective of this course is to make an introduction to the management of operations in production and logistics while situating them in the more global context of supply chains. The course treats, on one hand, the fundamental problems of supply chain management under the framework of hierarchical decisions (strategic, tactical and operational decisions), on the other hand, the cross-functional drivers of supply chain performance like internationalization, sourcing, and information. It will provide students with the ability of solving common logistical problems, and the understanding of the effects of supply chain management decisions on the firm's performance. |
