| Course contents : | The curriculum in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine comprises English language courses, which aim to give students a thorough command of written and spoken English in the field of veterinary medicine.
The purpose of the first-year course is to enable students to revise or acquire general English in semi-autonomy (through guided self-learning). |
| Course objective : | The first-year English course is a levelling course which aims to revise the elements of general English and to introduce the scientific vocabulary. |
| Prerequisites : | Basic knowledge of general English grammar and vocabulary (intermediate or B1 level).
Given the significant differences in proficiency between students in First year of Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine, supervised self-learning and remedial work will have to be given due attention in some cases. |
| Organization : | The course is comprised of a self-assessment test (reading comprehension & English in use) followed by guided and supervised sef-learning online modules and grammar (revision) exercises with key. |
| Written notes : | Online WebCT and Tell Me More modules and online grammar exercises, and ISLV self-study grammar course (with exercises and key on line and on paper). |
| Assessment : | Self-assessment test (reading comprehension and English in use MCT of intermediate - B1- level) in October and similar exam in June. |
