Course contents :  In our time of globalisation , it becomes necessary for every manager to communicate with foreign business partners. The objective of this course is to improve the knowledge and the know-how acquired by the student in the 1st and 2nd bachelor, and this, as much on a linguistic level (structures, specific vocabulary) as in the understanding of German (business-) culture.

Subjects (not-exhaustive list):

- welcoming business partners
- transport and logistics
- sale and distribution
- trade fairs
- import-export
- preparation for a traineeship in Germany
Course objective :  C1. Learning of specific vocabulary

C1. Information about business life in Germany, including several intercultural aspects.

P2. Oral and written drils to acquire the studied structures and vocabulary.

P3. Oral presentations and essays.
Prerequisites :  German courses level 1 and level 2.
Workshops :  In the 2nd semester, with M. David Homburg. These will allow to work in smaller groups and to adapt the course to possible differences in the student's language skills (due to the Erasmus program).
Organization :  A1. Presentation of different aspects of business life in Germany by the teacher (vocabulary, cultural and economical aspects).

A2. Exercises in the multi-media lab and in the language lab, on line exercises (Lola) and work to do in class or at home to improve the 4 skills (writing, reading, speaking and understanding).

A3. Debates; presentations.

Lectures in class: 60 hours
Preparations at home : 15 hours
Work at home on a vocabulary and listening comprehension manual: "L'allemand économique et commercial": 15 hours
Study of the course: 15 hours
Reading press articles: 15 hours

Assessment :  E1: prepared listening comprehension (dialogues from "L'allemand économique et commercial"; prepared German-French translations; oral assessment on the course = 30 %

E2: French-German translations (specific vocabulary): 15 %

E3: unprepared listening comprehension; written essay; oral presentation of press articles: 55 %

Written essay and listening comprehension: in May or June, 150 minutes.

Oral exam: in May or June.
