Course contents :  This course aims to develop the students' skills in spoken English (namely their note-taking and responding ability in lectures in the field of biomedical sciences)
Course objective :  The purpose of this course is to allow students to demonstrate their thorough comprehension of scientific lectures by answering series of accurate questions and/or responding on the subject of the lecture in English.
Prerequisites :  Pratique de l'Anglais Scientifique I (compulsory scientific English course in 3rd year of the Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences) or equivalent (e.g. IELTS 6 or Cambridge Advanced English A- C).
Organization :  The course is comprised of 5 hours of theory on academic note-taking in a foreign language taught to all students together, followed by workshops (25 hours in all) in which the students will attend actual on-line and real lectures and take notes on the basis of which they will have to answer questions, provide syntheses and/or ask relevant questions. These workshops will be taught by researchers from the Faculty of Medicine.
Written notes :  Scientific English (2007-2008) compulsory and available as of January 2008. The scientific articles will be handed out in each workshop.
Assessment :  Exam in June.
