| Course contents : | English course consisting of two levels: the intermediary or B1 level and the advanced or B2-C1 level.
The B1 course is a levelling course which mainly focuses on written English understanding while the advanced course aims to develop speaking and writing skills and introduce the vocabulary of psychology. |

| Course objective : | The purpose of the course is to consolidate and extend the students' general language understanding (and use), and to introduce the specific features of scientific English vocabulary and grammar (in the B2 course). |

| Prerequisites : | Considering its objectives, the course cannot be seen as an introduction to the basics of the English language. Therefore, it is vital for anyone taking the course to have a basic grounding in general English language and grammar (intermediate level). |

| Organization : |
- The intermediary course is taught to 35 to 40 students for one and a half hours bimonthly (from November to Easter). The students will be expected to prepare exercises for the in-class course and the self-study course every other week. Such preparation work varies in time depending on the students' previous knowledge.
- The advanced course is taught to about 25 students for one and a half hours weekly (from November to Easter).
- Regular attendance and active participation are essential and taken into account in the final grade.

| Written notes : |
- Coursebook in two volumes : ENGLISH FOR PSYCHOLOGY (Level A or Level B) and self-study book and CD.
- Students can also buy the Grammaire de Base de l'Anglais (with exercises and key) written in French. It is available at Intercopy.

| Assessment : | Placement test in October (reading comprehension and language in use multiple choice test) and written exams in June (and August).

| Remarks : | Students can train on-line. To do so, simply log on to http://www.ulg.ac.be/islvle. If necessary, they will simply have to click on travaux pratiques and Anglais and type in student and olec as password in order to have access to the exercises and tests on line. |
