Partim I: Biomechanics

The course studies the physical parameters of human movements.

Partim II: Theory and technique

The structure of the course corresponds to the study of:

  • The physiological bases of massage manoeuvres and their actions on different tissues.
  • The basic massage conditions (modalities, inspection of tissues treated)
  • Massage manoeuvres in developing technical aspects, specific guidelines and contra-indications.
  • Loco-regional applications

Partim III: Hydro and mecanothe

  • The structure of the course corresponds to the study of the physical properties of liquid environments - physiological consequences - therapeutic implications
  • Hydrotherapy guidelines and contra-indications
  • The properties and applications of mudbaths (peloides), carbonic gas baths, steam and subaqua showers
  • Mecano-therapy systems: levers - pulleys
  • Specific mountings geared for posture - traction - mobility
  • Guidelines and contra-indications of these systems
  • Loco-regional applications
  • Modern concepts: arthromotors, isokinetic dynamometers

Course objective :
Partim I: Biomechanics

Understanding how mechanical principles apply to human movement. To stimulate some reflection on the origins of a more efficient and appropriate professional practice.

Partim II: Theory and technique

Learning general and specific massage techniques.

Partim III: Hydro and mecanothe

Allowing an understanding of therapeutic guidelines and the limits of hydro and mechano-therapy in order to integrate them in other re-educative techniques.

Prerequisites :
Partim I: Biomechanics

Mechanical physics, human anatomy, osteology, myology: secured by BAC 1 and BAC 2 courses. Knowledge of trigonometry.

Particular links with a course on the curriculum:

Previously: anatomy, physics

Partim II: Theory and technique
