| Course contents : | The course is focused on the arts of hunter-gatherers (Palaeolithic) around the world and for which the general structures will be presented. These arts, in effect, correspond more to mythological illustrations than to true religions; they are dominated by the natural world, incarnated by wild animals. The structure of their agencies ("semiotic") reveals their organisation, founded on rigourous and stable rules in which aesthetics intervenes as much as recounting of myths. |

| Course objective : | The course consists of a panoramic presentation of these different expressions, then will propose a series of methodological approaches permitting to interpret them in coherent and logical terms. Nothing, in fact, is random in Palaeolithic art, where style, schools and phases can be distinguished. |

| Prerequisites : | None, but a minimum of knowledge in the sciences is helpful. |

| Organization : | Duration and period: 30 hours, 1st term.
Classroom and schedule: Auditorium A4/S100 (bât. A4), Monday, 4-6 pm. |
