Course contents :  The course integrates theory and practice in a general approach where each student is directly concerned with both, worshops, projects and fieldworks.
The following issues are more deeply treated:
- the vocabulary of urban geography;
- the major research themes;
- the influence of cities in the organisation of territories;
- urban models;
- spatial and morphological structures of urban districts.
Course objective :  The major objective of the course is to provide the theoretical background in the field of urban geography and to learn - with different exercises - how to analyse and study urban territories.
Prerequisites :  Course of "Candidature" : "Introduction aux sciences géographiques"
Organization :  - 15 hours (5 x 3 hours) = lecturer presentation on: 1. Urban networks and urban polarities; 2. How to read the cities of the world
- 15 hours (5 x 3 hours) = exchange and methodological seminars, presentation on the basis of personal works.
- 8 hours of worshops in order to prepare the seminars, the presentations and the fieldworks.
- 2 days of fieldworks prepared by the students about the Liège districts.

Assessment :  The first part of the work is evaluated with an oral exam while the second is co-evaluated on the basis of four grids, in relation with four learning processes :
- to master the basic vocabulary in urban geography;
- to summarize a scientific article;
- to realize an original research on an important city;
- to organize and guide a visit in an urban quarter.
40% of the quotation is related with the first part and 60% with the second part.
