GEOG0018-1  Sedimentology
Duration :  20h Th, 20h Pr
Credits/ECTS :
civil engineering in geology, 2nd year4
Holder(s) :  Frédéric Boulvain
Language :  Langue française
Course contents :  The different families of sedimentary rocks are described and interpreted in relation with their depositional environment. Criteria for recognition and interpretation of rocks are based mainly on study of thin sections .
Course objective :  Capability to recognize and interpret sedimentary rocks and sedimentary environments.
Prerequisites :  GEOL0017-1 Géologie générale
Workshops :  Practical work is focused on thin section study. In a first stage, the student learns how to identify the rock type; in a second stage, an interpretation of the sedimentary environment is established.
Organization :  Details about lectures and practical work are available from the following website:http://www.ulg.ac.be/geolsed/page2.htm
