Pathology of materials and structures Corrosion of steel Degradation mechanisms (concrete, stones, wood) Effects of humidity

Pathology and Structural Repairs

Mechanical origins of degradations: effects of temperature, effects of deformations, fatigue, vibrations. Evaluation of existing structures : destructive and non destructive assessment techniques. Repair techniques : links, diaphragms, injections. Repair and retrofitting techniques making use of reinforced concrete, of post tensioning, of steel components, of masonry.

Demolition Techniques and Methods for Civil Engineering Works

Caractère particulier des méthodes de démolition et rôle de la sécurité. Préparation d'un chantier de démolition et étude des mesures de sécurité. Choix d'une méthode de démolition. Techniques classiques. Démolitions au moyen d'appareils mécaniques. Procédés thermiques. Explosifs. Procédés par expansion et par abrasifs.

setting forward underestimated actions or action effects and errors in design; description of techniques and problems specific to structural repairs

To be able to describe and to select protection systems for materials and structures in civil engineering

L'objectif du cours est de donner un aperçu des principales techniques
de démolition partielle ou totale d'ouvrages du génie civil.
