Synthesis of analysis methods for seismic design. Earthquake action. Eurocode 8 data for action and design. Seismic design principles. Design of steel and reinforced concrete structures. Base isolation.

Course objective :  
Fire-Submitted Structure Calculation and Design

Design and verification of structural elements subjecdted to the fire.

Building Project

Conceptual design of a building to be erected in a given environment and preliminary design of the main structural components.

Seismic Design

setting forward specific aspects of earthquake action and action effects, on local zones of structures and for their global behaviour; general design principles and design requirements for various construtional materials

Prerequisites :  
Fire-Submitted Structure Calculation and Design

Basic static, Mechanics of solid, Mechanics of materials, hyperstatic structures, heat transfer, reinforced and prestressed concrete, composite and steel structures, timber construction.

Building Project

Fundamentals of statics, Mechanics of solids and materials, Structural analysis, Steel and composite construction, Reinforced and prestreseed concrete, Soil mechanics and foundations.

Seismic Design

Structural mechanics, materials, reinforced concrete design; steel structures design

Workshops :

Application exercices under supervision of an assistant.

Exercise conducted by group of 2 to 3 students.

a pre design of a building within 1 day (8 hours)
