Course objective :  The aim of the course is to introduce to the running of health care and insurance markets :
  • Features of health care (uncertainty, externalities, information asymmetry,¿)
  • Definitions of moral hazard and adverse selection
  • Comparative analysis of health system in the O.E.C.D. countries
  • Analysis of determinants of health care demand (incomes, morbidity,¿)
  • Analysis of variations in medical practices of providers
  • Study of effectiveness and equity goals pursued by public authorities
  • Analysis of reforms introduced into health care and insurance markets
Prerequisites :  Microeconomics, Statistics
Organization :  Lectures
Written notes :  Course material (articles,...) is given during the lessons
Assessment :  Written examination (+ additional oral examination)
