| Course contents : | Interaction mechanisms between electrons and atoms or molecules. Impact of the electrons energy. Excitation. Non-optiacal selection rules. Vibration or electronic population inversion. Electron-molecule resonances. Application in technologies (plasmas, lasers, ..., in the physical methods of analysis and in extraterrestrial terrestrial atmospheric chemistry, in radiation chemistry. |

| Course objective : | To give an insight in the fundamental mechanisms of energy tranfers induced by electrons in collision with atoms or molecules. Nature of the excited states. Illustration by applications in physical chemistry. |

| Prerequisites : | Basic notions in chemistry and spectroscopy |

| Organization : | Oral lectures. Timetable fixed upon discussion with the students. |

| Written notes : | The students receive a copy of the transparencies. A list of the reference books is given at the begining of the first lecture. |
