Course contents :  Astrophysics : Starting from the observations and introducing the internal structure equations, stellar models are presented and the evolution of stars is described. Galaxies are then analyzed and simple cosmological models are presented.

Geophysics : An analysis of the informations given by the seismic waves and the magnetic data is performed. Plate tectonics is described. Physical and chemical properties of the earth atmosphere are discussed and the global energy balance is presented. Global changes in the earth climate due to antropogenic effects are analyzed.
Course objective :  The aim of this course is to give to the students an general idea of their environment and to help them becoming conscient of the Global Warming problem.
Prerequisites :  Elementary notions of physics and mathematics are required.
Organization :  Courses are given at the Institute of Mathematics. Exercise sessions of about 3 hours are organized during the first semester.
Written notes :  A syllabus is avialable.
Assessment :  A written exam is organized in January.
