Clinic of internal medicine, surgery, reproduction, anesthesiology and ressuscitation of ruminants

Course contents : The training of the students is achieved through the consultation and the hospitalization of ruminants in the fields of internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and theriogenology.
Course objective : The objectives of these clinical activities are the following :

  • Collecting symptoms and results of laboratory diagnostic methods in diseased ruminants;
  • Analysing data to make a diagnosis and a differential diagnosis;
  • Establishing a vital, economic, or zootechnical prognosis;
  • Applying a treatment (medical and/or surgical);
  • Formulating preventive measures and recommandations.
Prerequisites : Nearly all theoretical courses given during the Bachelor's degree and the first and second years of Master are necessary prerequisites for this clinic.
Workshops : Without object
Organization : The attendance to the clinic is obligatory between 8h30 and 17h.

One week of clinical activities during the intramural training.
Written notes : No specific notes are associated to this clinic.
Assessment : The evaluation of the students is organised as a written examination with multiple choice questions in connection with clinical cases eventually illustrated by slides or short videos, together with the clinic for pigs and cattle farms visits, giving 2 different marks at the end of the year.

Remarks : The attendance to this clinic is systematically verified. The cause of any absence must be communicated by phone before the beginning of the clinical activity. Otherwise, the absence will be considered as not justified. Not justified absences will be taken into account by the jury at the time of deliberation.
