Anatomy of domestic animals III

Course contents : The course begins with the study of general anatomy of the peripherical and autonomous nervous system, followed by special anatomy in horses. Comparative angiology and neurology in ruminants are then studied. Comparative anatomy of the dog, cat, swine, rabbit, bird and fish is studied as well as general and comparative foetal anatomy
Course objective : Anatomy is the science which study the organisation of living beings. It is the fondation of the teaching of medicine and consists of a necessary introduction to the knowledge of the sound organism and its functions. Veterinary anatomy is general and comparative: it concerns all animal domestic species and describes resemblances and caracteristical differences. The aim of this study is to lay down important bases, indispensable for the comprehension of clinical sciences, particularly medical imaging, internal medicine and surgery
Prerequisites : Knowledge of anatomy courses of the second year is indispensable
Workshops : There are 45 hours of practical works (TP) and 4 hours of directed works (TD). These TP are obligatory and complementary to theoric lessons. They are organised by groupes of 45 to 50 students and by whole weeks, with individual questioning at the end of the week. The notes obtained for these interrogations are taken into account in the final evaluation at the time of the examination.

Myology and splanchnology of carnivores (1 week)

Angiology and neurology of carnivores (1 week)

The following TDs are organised

Dog myology (2h)

Comparative anatomy of swine, rabbit and birds (2h)
Organization : 40 hours of theoric lessons are at the program. The typical horary includes 2 to 4 hours of anatomy lessons per week at the first quadrimester and 2 to 4 hours at the beginning of the second quadrimester. Some courses are organised in small groups (TD) within the anatomy department and presence of the students is obligatory.

Assessment : The examination consists of two main part: a theoretical and a practical examination.

The theoretical part consists of a written part followed by an oral examination. The pratical part is a dissection work or a topographic description

The horaries established for these examinations must be strictly respected. Every change must have the occeptation of prof B. Collin
