Course contents : The course is an introduction to sociology of migration and ethnicity through the study of some of the main texts of the discipline drawn both from Anglo-Saxon and French sociology.
Course objective : The aim of the course is to provide the students with a theoretical basis as well as with a global picture of the classical literature in the field of sociology of migration and ethnicity.
Prerequisites : A passive knowledge of written and spoken English is indispensable.
Organization : The course will use 3 pedagogical tools:
- Lecture by the teacher
-Seminars based on the reading and dicussion of texts as well as on presentations made by students
-Lectures given by foreign guests.
Written notes : A reading file including all the papers will be available at the Presses de l'ULg
Assessment : first session: participation in class (including the presentations) (50%° + a written examination (50%)
second session: a written examination
