Course objective : To enable students to understand political discourses dealing with classical 'cultural myths', in particular in Belgium. (And to extend students' passive and active knowledge of the Dutch language)
Prerequisites : Sufficient knowledge of Dutch to be able to read, understand and interpret general texts on the subject, and to write and present individual work in Dutch.
Organization : The first part of the course will involve reading and discussion of Dutch texts (after preparatory work has been done at home). This is followed by the preparation of individual work, written in Dutch and presented to the class by each student.
Written notes : Discussion will be based on a variety of texts which reflect contemporary political issues.
Assessment : In principle student evaluation will be based on the presentations of individual work by students throughout the year.
