Course contents : The aim of the course is to present and analyse the notion of "ideology" in the broadest acception as "global worldview".

It studies societal functions of ideology but also mechanisms of ideological production and specificity of the notion whithin the "architecture of knowledge" (opinions, attitudes, representations).

He bears on classical theoreticians (Marx, Mannheim, Geertz), on modern authors (Ricoeur, Boltanski, Elster...) but also on literary works and pictures. He will also present some research work led inside University of Liege.
Course objective : The course has two main goals

- on one hand, render students able to perceive implicit ideologies among which we live and to take distance form them.

- on the other end the study of ideological functioning and production as such, in order to understand how all social relations are "couloured" by ideology.
Organization : Each lesson will be based on a classical text or a concrete example that will be analysed and decoded by the teacher.

Those text and examples will constitute the examination matter.
Written notes : Texts and examples will be analysed and presented in a schematic way on slides. Students will get both texts and slides.
