Seminar on history of the art of Prehistory

Course contents : The course focuses on the arts of agricultural and metalworking cultures around the world and which present general comparative structures. In particular, the human figure appears and with it the notion of divinity and religion.
Course objective : The different modes of plastic expression will be examined, from ceramics to metallurgy, and the impact of these different materials will be considered from both plastic and aesthetic viewpoints. The agency of iconic components can be decoded and come from story structures to symbolic value, linked to situations where these arts are expressed.
Prerequisites : None, but a minimum of knowledge in the sciences is helpful.
Organization : Duration and period: 30 hours, 2nd term.

Classroom and schedule: Auditorium A4/S100 (building A4), Monday, 4-6 pm.
Written notes : A bibliography of the major reference works is distributed at the beginning of the year.
Assessment : Oral examination at the end of the year. Exam session in June.
