Personal project work in quantitative geology

Course contents : Geostatistical data processing on a real case study.

Programming in Matlab of geostatistical routines
Course objective : To master MatLab for geo-environmental data processing purposes

Variographic analysis and modelling of spatially distributed data using deterministic methods and kriging
Prerequisites : GEOL0094-1 Analyse spatiale des données géologiques (10TH 10PR)
Organization : Each student will receive a personal dataset at least 15 days before the deadline (holidays not incl.)
Written notes : Introduction to MatLab, course notes in pdf.

Written explanation of the personal project
Assessment : Each student has to submit a written report including the geostatistical analysis and interpretation of the dataset he received.

Evaluation will take the following points into account :

  • Quality and exactness of results
  • Quality of the comments and deductions
  • Structure of the work
  • Quality of redaction and presentation
  • Understanding of concepts
