Course contents : Those seminars are structured around four themes


1. How to start a research: choice of the topic, design of objectives, definition of the problem...

2. How to seek pieces of information: in libraries, on the Internet, starting from speeches delivered by experts...

3. How to take advantage of the collected information: by taking notes, filling a reading form, writing a summary or a synthesis, structuring one's documents, criticising one's references, converting tables into graphs, extracting pieces of information from a map...

4. How to present one's results: by conceiving and writing a report, presenting a bibliography, quoting one's sources, designing Powerpoint slides in order to support an oral speech...
Course objective : To train students in documentary research, in writing and presenting reports
Prerequisites : None
Workshops : See herafter "Organsation"
Organization : Alternance of short theoretical sessions and application exercises (20 hours).

Final production of a file/report dealing with one of the themes from the course " Introduction to Economical Geography " (GEOG 0205-1): written work and oral presentation supported by Powerpoint slides).
Written notes : Documents and methodological sheets delivered during the several sessions
Assessment : Application exercises : 50 % of the quotation

Final report (written work and oral presentation) : 50 % of the quotation
