Course contents : 1. limit equilibrium in soils.
2. shallow foundations : introduction, design (ultimate load and settlement), basic technology.
3. Deep foundations : introduction, design, type of piles, basic technology.
4. Retaining structures : design, stability, wight structures, sheet piles, mouded walls, earth structures.
Course objective : understand mechanics and design of geotechnics structures
Prerequisites : basic solid mechanics, material strength, soil mechanics
Workshops : directed exercices, laboratory and builduing site visits
Organization : 1st semester
Written notes : yes, avalaible at departement secretary
Assessment : written exam on exercices (with open book)
