Course contents : Chemical reactor classification and methodology of study. Analysis and synthesis of ideal homogenous chemical reactors. Single or multiple reactions. Isotherm or non isotherme regimes. Sizing and selectivity problems. Analysis of the multiplicity and of the stability of stationnary operating points. Description of real reacting flows based on a systemic approach : macromixing theory and tracer experimental method. Experimental diagnostic of non-ideal flow in chemical reactors
Course objective : Aquire knowledge and developp skills allowing to apply the scale-up methodology of chemical and biochemical reactions from the laboratory scale to the industrial scale reactor.
Prerequisites : "Candidat ingénieur civil" education + complementary education in engineering sciences + basic formation in chemical engineering and in chemical science
Workshops : Numerical applications and experimental workshops.
Organization : Fall and spring terms
Written notes : Course notes are available (2 volumes)
Assessment : Test in January (Part I : theory - Part II : exercises) - Examination in June
