Duration :30h Th, 30h Pr
Credits/ECTS :
3rd year of a Bachelor's degree in biological sciences6
Holder(s) :Jacques Dommes, Moreno Galleni
Course contents : 1. Introduction

8. Interactions and bounds

9. oragnisation of the polypeptide chain

10. Stabilisation and folding of the polypeptide chain

11. Structure-activity relationship

12. Deanturation, inactivation and stability of proteins

13. Determination of protein concentration

14. Analyse of the amino acid sequence of a polypeptide chain

15. Introduction to protein purification

16. Electrophoresis
Course objective : The first scope of the lectures is to introduce the theoretical and practical bases of the molecular gentic and biology. The second sope will be to improve the student knowledge in advanced biochemistry. The major aim of the course will be to help students for the comprehension of other lectures of the master in ecology and biology of the organism and for the master in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology.
Prerequisites : Introduction to genetic (BAC2 in biological sciences)

Introduction to Biochemistry and thermodynamic of biological systems. (BAc2 in biologicals sciences)
Workshops : Time schedule. The pratical courses will be organised on two complet weeks (weeks 9 and 10)

Program

The pratical courses will be based on basic manupulation of molecular biology and protein chemistry. The students will learn the basic protocol for the cloning of a cDNA fragment into a bacterial expression plasmid. The plasmid will be transformed into a bacterial host. The protein will be expressed, purified and analysed.
Organization : Second quater semester

each monday and tuesday of weeks 1-13

8h45 -10h15: Galleni M

10h45- 12h15: Dommes J
Written notes : Partim chemistry of proteins

Power Point presentation + Syllabus
Assessment : Report written during the parctical courses
