Course contents : Telescopes: brief history and modern aspects.
CCD detectors: principles and data processing.
Photometry: principles and some examples.
Spectroscopy: diffraction gratings, spectrographs, Fourier spectroscopy.
Interferometry: basic principles, examples.
High energy astronomy: detectors and imaging devices.
Course objective : Understand the principles of the basic observational methods in astronomy.
Prerequisites : Introductory astronomy
Elementary optics
Basics of solid-state physics (semi-conductors)
Organization : Theoretical lectures (1h30 each)
Written notes : Photocopies of transparencies.
Assessment : Oral examination, two questions.
