Course contents : Modeling techniques:
  • Buildings modeling
  • Site modeling
  • Buildings differentiated descriptions: geometrical, topological, numerical and symbolic system.
Work methodology in digital environment:
  • Surface modeling: three-dimensional surfaces creation and edition, surface triangulation.
  • Volumetric modeling: solids modeling, 3D edition and Boolean operations.
  • Generation by extrusion, revolution, sweeping.
  • Analysis: graphic treatment of information and performance evaluation of the design.
  • Data management: tracing papers, levels, layers
Particular aspects of architectural modeling by objects. Creation and edition of architectural objects: walls, roofs, staircases etc.

Presentation techniques of 3D models:
  • Image rendering: methods, graphic formats, time computing
  • Lights and image rendering, shade and illumination models
  • Camera concept and interactive sights, animation
Final work: Development of a personal project in several numerical formats with Web presentation
Course objective :
  • To acquire a global vision of technologies of assisted modeling: to show the possibilities and to determine the limits;
  • To control in an autonomous and structured way a software environment of architectural modeling;
  • To manage methodically the successive phases of digital modeling.
Prerequisites :
  • Graphic communication (descriptive geometry, Monge geometry)
  • Computer graphics
