Course contents : Traditional process and rational process of the architectural designing, synthesis methodology.

Architectural programming elements: internal functional requirements and local performances.

Plan and dual graph:
  • Functional spaces and borders
  • graphs and adjacencies
  • Intimacy and semantic structuring
  • Accessibility graph
  • Composition by graph
  • Geometrical design of a graph
Circulations:
  • Circulations in the plan.
  • Vertical circulations and composition on floors: centered distributions, surfaces correspondences and principles carrying
  • Integration of the plans and elevation drawings in composition
Architectural ergonomics:
  • Domestic equipment ergonomics. Equipment dimensioning.
  • Ergonomics particular problems : children, old people, reduced mobility people
  • Applications: study and design of particular interior spaces
Course objective :
  • Erase the student perception of architecture.
  • Learn to analyse architecture.
  • Learn organisational design of architecture.
  • Learn contextual integration of architecture.
Organization : 1st semester:
Tuesday afternoon 2:00-5:30
2nd semester:
Monday afternoon 2:00-5:30
Assessment :
  • Permanent evaluation based on exercices.
  • Final exam.
