Course contents : Overvieuw  :
Feeding management and clinical feeding of the following species:

Commun section
  • Cattle, sheep and pig: production system and feeding
  • Horse : feeding principle
  • Companion animal feeding over a life cycle and clinical nutrition
Complement in horse feeding: particularities of the feedstuffs; the athlete horse, the old horse, Ca, foal.
Course objective : Knowlegde of feeding systems of farm and companions animals.
Prerequisites :
  • Knowlegde in ration calculation (first year lectures)
  • Knowlegde in physiology of digestion
  • Knowlegde on pathologies in farm and companion animals
Workshops : Paraclinics :
The presence to the paraclinics is compulsory. The student who is missing one or many sessions will be sanctioned by a zero note for the whole paraclinic regardless of the reasons; missed sessions are recoverable.
Organization :
  • Commun section of 20 h in which:
    - Feeding of farm animals and horses : 12 h (I.Dufrasne, L.Istasse)
    - Feeding of companion animals : 8 h (M. Diez)
  • Complement in horse feeding : 10 h (L.Istasse)
  • Paraclinics : 5 sessions of 2,5 h

Assessment : Oral exam in a total of 15 points.
