Course contents : In the first submodule, external collaborators will explain their involvement in farm survey and in the daily management of veterinary practice. In the second submodule animal productions systems similar to systems of commercial farms will be studied. The survey follows a life cycle of the animals.
Course objective : The module is made of two submodules of 12.5 hours.

The first submodule aims to:

-give a global approach of the factors involved in the profitability of pig farms with specific objectives.

-describe the procedure to carry on audits in farms


The second submodule aims to:

-familiarise the students to survey dairy and beef farms

-offer to the students an approach in pig production from birth to slaughter
Prerequisites : Good knowledge related to animal productions
Organization : In the second submodule, the activities are carried on every morning at the experimental station. Since these activities are variable according to the season and to the physiological status of the animals, the students are on duties during the night and the week-ends according to a time table previously fixed. The presence is compulsory. When a student is unable to be present, he will be repleaced by a colleague.
Assessment : In the first submodule, evaluation will be done on the daily activities and on the presentation of a subject. In the second submodule, the students will be evaluated on their daily motivations and their knowledge on animal production.
