Course contents : The course is subdivided into 2 parts:
1) Generalities (20 h) with the following chapters:

-) air pollutants in livestock buildings;
-) lighting and noise level;
-) climatic parameters (temperature, relative humidity, air speed) and animal thermal comfort;
-) isolation, ventilation and heating of livestock buildings;
-) housing systems for cattle, pigs, domestic fowls.

2) Complements on housing design and equipment according to species:

Option: farm animals (cattle, pigs, domestic fowls) - 10 h

History of farm animal husbandry is described and legislation on farm animal housing is presented. The influence of housing systems on animal health, welfare and productivity is detailed.
Course objective : The course is a presentation of the different components of domestic animals environment and of the effects of farm animals on the human environment.
Prerequisites : Various knowledges in chemistry, physics and physiology.
