Course contents : This course presents the most important breeds of domestic animals. For farm animals (horses, ruminants, pigs,domestic fowls, rabbits) the presentation is limited to the breeds currently found in Belgium and France. For companion animals (dogs, cats) breeds are presented using the classification of the World Canine Organisation and the Fédération Internationale Féline.
Course objective : The course gives definitive characteristics which distinguish one breed from another for that currently found in Belgium and France. Indications are given of their specific aptitudes.
Workshops : For practical illustration (10 h), a visit of an International Agriculture Show with farm animal breeds exhibition is organized.
