Topographical anatomy of domestic animals

Course contents : Topographic anatomy study the connections between the different organs and the integration of different system by regions. The course starts by the study of bovine topographic anatomy, followed by topographic anatomy of the horse and dog.
Course objective : The teaching of topographic anatomy permits to study the relationships between the different organs, as well as an integrated study of the different systems within a region. Topographic anatomy must lay the indispensable foundation to understand clinical sciences, particularly medical imagery, medicine and surgery.
Prerequisites : The knowing of descriptive and comparative anatomy of the horse, ruminants and carnivores is indispensable
Workshops : 15 hours of practical works are planned. These practical sessions are organised at the end of the second quadrimestre, with small groups of students (10-13) in the presence of living animals.

Students has to prepare the sessions and present small practical subjects.
Organization : 12 hours of theoretical courses are planned.

The course begins generally in the middle of the second quadrimestre at the rythm of 2 to 4 hours a week.

  • A CD rom of horse anatomy is available at the anatomy department

Assessment : One unique note is given for this teaching and "anatomy of the domestic animals, III" (see this course for the mode of evaluation)
