Course contents : The course tries to reach two essential purposes. Course objective : Initiation into the study of the contemporary Arabian-Islamic cultures in their connections with the western cultures. Are these cultures condemned to confrontation, as claimed by the American political analyst Samuel P. Huntington? Is this era the one of a " shock of civilizations "? The answer to these questions and the analysis of connections between the cultures is the main thread of the course.
