PHYS0232-1

Further Applied Computing

Duration :30h Th
Credits/ECTS :
2nd "licence" in physical sciences
Holder(s) :Henri‑Pierre Garnir
Course contents : This course continues the study of programming in more complex fields (threads, graphics, socket, advance file manipulations, etc...) and is specially oriented toward laboratory instrument interfacing and data collection and analysis.
The aim is to give to students the ability to complete a fairly large program (which will be presented as a report) and to progress and develop more ambitious projects in the field of laboratory data collection.
Course objective : Good knowledge of basic electronics and programming techniques in view of practical
application in the field of laboratory interfacing and computer controlled experiments.
Prerequisites : Bachelor in physics
Workshops : Laboratories made in conjunction with the course.
Organization : Study of good concepts of laboratory interfacing and of the principle of computer controlled physics experiments. Practical realization of a complex project in collaboration with the researchers and technical staff of the laboratory.
Written notes : References in direct relation with the poject will be given.
Assessment : Evaluation of the quality of the project realization.
