| Duration : | 30h Th | |
| | | |
| Credits/ECTS : |
| |
| | | |
| Holder(s) : | Jean‑René Cudell | |
| | | |
| | | |
| Course contents :
| Field theory course with an emphasis on quantum electrodynamics | |
| | | |
| Course objective :
| The course has a double purpose: on the one hand, to give a practical knowledge of field theory, so that students can calculate the amplitudes for simple processes; on the other hand, to link field theory with solid state physics and particle physics, and to finish by the definition of charges and masses through renormalisation. | |
| | | |
| Prerequisites :
| Fourth-year compulsory field theory course. | |
| | | |
| Workshops :
| Two discussion sessions of 1h30 each. | |
| | | |
| Organization :
| The course will have 20 sessions of 1h30. The schedule will be agreed upon at the beginning of the year. | |
| | | |
| Written notes :
| M.E. Peskin et D.V. Schroeder, An Introduction to Quantum Field Theory (Addison-Wesley : 1995). | |
| | | |
| Assessment :
| There will be a written exam at the end of the year, followed by a few oral questions. | |
