Advanced General Physics partim : electronics - acquiring and processing information

Course contents : The course is intended to give a overview of electronic fundamentals, data acquisition and analyzing techniques to students in physics. It describes also the working principles of modern instrumentations.
Course objective : 1.- Brief introduction to solid state physics (semiconductor)
2.- Diodes and transistors (bipolar & FET) (Practical circuits are build and analyzed.)
3.- The operational amplifier and the feed-back principle
4.- Non linear circuitry (comparator, trigger, oscillator)
5.- Digital electronic : introduction to logic
6.- Static circuit (gates- Addler, PAL, etc...)
7.- Clocked circuit (flip-flop, shift register, memory, etc...)
8.- Converters (DAC, ADC)
9.- Microprocessor fundamentals
10.- Data acquisition and analysis (with applications)
11.- Transducers
12.- Noise reduction and digital signal analysis
13.- Description of modern laboratory instruments (SQID, STM, GPS, etc...)
Prerequisites : 2 years of basic physics (bachelor)
Workshops : 12 laboratory sessions where the concepts studied are applied.
