physiology of the masticatory system

Course contents : The masticatory system is made of a series of organs which work together to fulfill various functions in the mouth area (mastication, deglutition, phonation,...). The course describes these various functions and their physiological mechanisms.
Course objective : The course provides the bases which allow the students to understand the physiology of the various functions of the mouth area so that they are able to follow it up with the study of the applicable pathologies and treatments.
Workshops : The practical exercises help to visualize some of the physiological phenomena studied during the course.
The use of the articulators will also demonstrate the mandibular kinematic.
Organization : The course takes place during Semester 4, on Wednesday afternoon at the Institut de Dentisterie (schedule TBD).
It takes the form of theory lectures and PBL sessions.
The practical exercises take place at the end of the course.
