Period of instruction in the laboratory of pharmacognosy

Course contents : Two optional subjects are proposed to students who want get a complementary training in pharmacognosy:

Thematic A:Methods of quality control of herbal drugs and phytomedicines

Thematic B:Methods of isolation and structure determination of potentially active natural products
Course objective : Thematic A: analytical methods of pharmacognosy described in European Pharmacopoeia for herbal drugs and phytomedicines.(important for Drugs and Food Industrials, Inspection of Pharmacy, Public or Private Laboratories)



Thematic B:research in metaboplomics and biodiversity (medicinal and toxic plants from the world).The therapeutic domains firstly examined are based on the traditional use of the plants (malaria, cancer, arthrosis, poisonings....) and are studied in collaboration with some laboratories of the Faculty of Medicine of the University.
Prerequisites : Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry

Botany,Pharmacognosy

Pharmacology,Toxicology, Drug Analysis..
Organization : Half-year 9

Four days per week from mid-September to mid December

Thematic A: Quality control laboratory (GLP) :maximum 3 students together

Thematic B:Research laboraories of pharmacognosy :maximum 3 students together
Written notes : Thematic A: lecture-notes of Mrs Dr. M.Tits distributed to students

Thematic B: notes distributed according to the subject of research
Assessment : Report of the period of probation :at least 10 pages (single interline, Times characters, size 12)
