Course contents : Tidal forces, analysis and prediction of tides.
Hydrodynamic equations for long waves.
Long waves in a barotropic medium (Kelvin, Proudman, Poincaré, Rossby waves). Barotropic and baroclinic modes in a two layers system (Kelin, Poincaré, inertial). Topographic waves. Oceanic circulation: linear and non linear theory.
Course objective : This course is a follow-up lectures of physical oceanography and dynamics of the lower layers of the atmosphere.
Prerequisites : Physical oceanography and dynamics meteorology.
Organization : 10 lectures of 3 hours.
Written notes : Written lectures notes
Assessment : Written open book exam, followed by an oral discussion.
