 | Combustion in Rocket Engines

| |
|
| |
| Duration : | 15h Th, 15h Pr | |
| | | |
| Credits/ECTS : |
| |
| | | |
| Holder(s) : | Philippe Ngendakumana | |
| | | |
| | | |
| Course contents :
| The course is subdivided into 4 chapters: thermochemistry of rocket engines and influence of the combustion on the thrust, solid-propellant rocket engines, liquid-propellant rocket engines and combined propulsion (air cycles). | |
| | | |
| Course objective :
| The aim of this course is to provide the students with the basis for design and rating a chemical rocket engine. | |
| | | |
| Prerequisites :
| Course MECA007-0 "Emploi des combustibles" Course MECA002-0 "Thermodynamique appliquée et introduction aux machines thermiques" | |
| | | |
| Workshops :
| In order to illustrate the different concepts, practical exercises are solved progressively with the students. | |
| | | |
| Organization :
| The course consists in an oral presentation illustrated by practical examples. It is given during the second semester (dates to be discussed with the students who choose the course). | |

| Assessment :
| A personal home work is asked on a topic chosen in a list. Beside a written report, that work has also to be presented orally. The assessment consists just in that home work. | |
