Integrated design of mechanical systems

Course contents : Hydrodynamic theory of journal bearings and of thrust bearings (dimensioning and lubricant). Mechanical properties of the lubricants. Electric motor with intermittent use. Laws of wear (ARCHARD) and application to the shoe and disk brakes, study of heating. Clutch: chronogram, concept of wheel (coefficient of regularity), devices with discs and cones, heating. Continuous assembly. Joining.
These matters can be integrated in a project whose subject can vary from one year to another.
Course objective : Presentation of mechanical systems intervening among other things in the design of automotive vehicles. Techniques of assembly.
Prerequisites : MECA 0013-1 Design of machine elements
Workshops : In addition to the 2 hours of practice per unit, 40 hours of project of mechanics targeted to a choosen up to date subject (application in automotive, ...). Visits of companies, seminars, etc... (learning rather than teaching)
Organization : Course organized in 4 hours units

2 hours of practice relating to the previous course
Written notes : AEES Document + course notes distributed according to the covered subjects
Assessment : 1 evaluation for the practice
1 evaluation for the project (80 points/200)
1 evaluation for the oral examination
