| Holder(s) : | Olivier Léonard | |
| | | |
| | | |
| Course contents :
|
- Historical perspectives, basic equations and principles.
- Pumps: hydraulic, manometric and theoretical heights, losses, energetic balances, caracteristic curves, centrifigal and axial machines, similarity laws, interaction of a pump and a system, regulation.
- Cavitation.
- Positive displacement machines.
- Introduction to volumetric, centrifugal and axial compressors.
| |
| | | |
| Course objective :
| To understand how the pump work and how they can be used in relation to their environment. | |
| | | |
| Prerequisites :
| Hydraulics and fluid mechanics. | |
| | | |
| Workshops :
| A laboratory session (2 hours) is organized, devoted to the test of a centrifugal pump and a positive-displacement pump, the acquisition and analysis of pressure, flow, torque measurements, and the assessment of the performances of the machines. | |
| | | |
| Organization :
| This course is organized during the second half of the academic year, including 9 sessions of 4 hour each, at a rate of about 25 hours of theory and 12 hours of exercises. | |
| | | |
| Written notes :
| Course notes are available, as well as a collection of solved exercises. These notes are regularly updated and are distributed during the course. | |
| | | |
| Assessment :
| An oral examination on the theory and a written examination on the exercises are organized in June (1st session) and September (2nd session). | |
