Course contents : Summary ear anatomy, deafness'type, hearing assessment and hearing aids.

Education of the deaf : history.

Prelingual deafness: outcomes on child developpment.

Approch to the sign language phonology, morphology and syntax and lipreading methods.

Initiation to figerspelling, Signed French, Cued Speech.

Stages of sign language for deaf child.

Verbal (gestual &oral) interaction of deaf or hearing mother with their deaf child.

Audiophonology therapy.

Reading & writting and school path in Belgium.

Parental guidance.

Psychology and deafness.

Multihandicap and deafness.
Course objective : To be up to date on teaching and rehabilitation of deaf child at the present time.

To be sensitive to sceening and early diagnosis of hearing loss.

Audiophonology methods for the deaf child.

Practical initiation: Signed French, French speaking Belgian Sign Language, fingerspelling, Cued Speech.
Prerequisites : 1st licenciate psychological sciences, educational sciences, speech therapy or bachelor's 3rd year psychological and educational sciences.
Workshops : Preparation of rehabilitation speech therapy sessions for impraired children.
Organization : Course during 2 hours per day during the second half of the year.
Written notes : Course-notes (250 pages) + annexed articles; references bibliographic, vidéos.
Assessment : For speech therapy students : plan and speech therapy exercices clinical cas.

Written and oral examination.
