Exercises in Greek II

Course contents : Reading of Greek Attic texts in extracts taken from the best authors. These extracts are always situated in their context within the work and in their socio-cultural mood. Texts reading allows a practical revision of the grammatical uses and the study of peculiar syntactical expressions.
Every students has to make a reading in front of the class.
Course objective : Improve the knowledge of Ancient Greek in order to allow the students to reach the master.
Prerequisites : A success in the exams of the first year.
Organization : How long? 30 h + 45 h - 1st and 2nd semesters.
Where and when? Main building, pl. du XX Août, classroom 3/24 (3rd floor), thuesday from 9 to 12.
How? Personal work, questions and answers, interrogations at he University, exercices to be done at home.
The students have also to prepare, for the year's end, the reading of a classical greek work imponed by the professor (cursive).
Written notes : The students have to use:
J.-M Renaud-P. Wathelet, Autonoos, Le grec ancien pour grands débutants, Liège, C.I.P.L., 2003, 2 vol. (to be bought at the Classical section's secretaryship, main building, 3rd floor, from 9 to 12 on a weekday).
Assessment : Oral and written examination.
