Course contents : During this course the following handbook will be used : "Wirtschaftsdeutsch für Anfänger". The book is based on a communicative approach. Grammatical structures are introduced progressively. By the end of the year, students should be able to use the vocabulary of the handbook, as well as other vocabulary seen in class. They should also be able to use basic grammatical structures efficiently. Exercises concentrate on pronunciation, the acquisition of vocabulary and basic grammatical structures.

Students are expected to work regularly during the whole the year. They are also supposed to prepare their lessons thoroughly.
Course objective : - All four language skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking) are developed.

- Acquisition of general vocabulary and introduction to business vocabulary.

- Acquisition of basic grammatical structures through grammar drills and other exercises.

- Conversation exercises on everyday topics. By the end of the second year, students are expected to be able to have a conversation in simple but reasonably correct German.
Prerequisites : None.
Organization : 1st term: 2 hours per week

2nd term: 2 hours + 1 hour of exercises (listening comprehension and oral expression).

Students who wish to buy a grammar book should buy: H. DREYER et R. SCHMITT : « Grammaire allemande avec exercices» (Hueber).
Assessment : Written test (to help students to assess their level)



Written exam (including a listening comprehension test) (2/3 of marks) and oral exam (1/3 of marks) in June and August
