Course contents : Texts used in class will be extracted from the main Japanese newspapers : Mainichi, Shinbun, Nihon Keizai Shinbun, etc.
Topics will range from political & socio-economic life to weather, disasters, ... in Japan.
Students will have to understand & paraphrase the text in Japanese.
Course objective : The course will develop the students' communication skills for miscellaneous circumstances.
Introduction to the newspaper jargon.
Prerequisites : LANG 237 Japanese (1st year and 2nd year)
LANG 284 Japanese
Knowledge of the kanjis
Organization : Each article will be presented with a vocabulary list, grammar notes & exercises.
After each class, there will be a discussion on the topic of the text.
