| Course contents :
| This course is designed to enable students to combine their business knowledge and experience with their English language skills through a series of tasks based on authentic English texts and case studies. Students will have the opportunity to practise key business communication skills in realistic contexts. The class will also follow developing issues in the global business context. | |

| Course objective :
| - active use of the 4 major language skills: reading, writing, listening, speaking
- writing business correspondence with no errors: reports, letters, memos, etc.
- giving professional presentations
-participating in meetings, negotiations, debates
-making and defending decisions and opinions
-doing research and analysis for business purposes | |

| Prerequisites :
| Students are expected to completed level C business English, have a good working knowledge of their business studies and a good mastery of English. | |
|  | | |
| Workshops :
| Students will be expected to do most of their reading as preparation for class actvities. Written reports, etc. will also be done at home. Class time will be used to develop oral skills such as giving presentations, participating in meetings, negotiations, etc. | |
|  | | |
| Organization :
| This class will meet 2 hours per week over the two semesters. Regular attendance is very important due to emphasis on team work. | |
|  | | |
| Written notes :
| The syllabus will be available at Intercopy. Stuents are also expected to read English newspapers and watch English language television regularly. | |
|  | | |
| Assessment :
| Students will be evaluated on tasks performed throughout the year. Oral exercises will count for 2 points and writen exercises will count for 2 points.
The final project of writing and presenting a business plan in teams of 3 or 4 persons will count for 5 points. (2 for the written executive summary and 2 for the oral presentation)
A written exam (6 points) and an oral exam in groups of 3 persons (5 points) will be organised during the final exam session at the end of the year. | |
